Ingredients
- 500 g phyllo pastry sheets
- 400 g ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 50 g fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
- 1 tsp cinnamon, ground
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Stir in the parsley, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, combine the meat mixture with the beaten egg.
- Brush a baking dish with olive oil and layer half of the phyllo sheets, brushing each sheet with oil.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly over the phyllo layers and cover with the remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each with oil.
- Trim any excess phyllo hanging over the edges and score the top layers with a knife to create serving portions.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
