- 300 g macaroni pasta
- 200 g cheddar cheese, grated
- 500 ml milk
- 50 g butter
- 50 g plain flour
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- to taste salt

- 100 g breadcrumbs
- 50 g parmesan cheese, grated
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Cook the macaroni pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the grated cheddar, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Transfer the macaroni mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and grated parmesan evenly on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly. Serve hot.
