Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml milk
- 100 g sugar
- 75 g butter, melted
- 20 g yeast
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 250 g poppy seeds
- 100 g honey
- 100 g walnuts, chopped
- 100 g raisins
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- to taste powdered sugar
Method
- In a bowl, mix warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let it rest for 10 minutes until bubbly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In another bowl, mix ground poppy seeds with honey, chopped walnuts, raisins, and vanilla extract.
- Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle. Spread the poppy seed mixture evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, sealing the edges well. Place the roll seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let the roll rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) during this time.
- Bake the roll for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing.
